Caroline Hirsch

I loved her.

Caroline Hirsch, amazing woman, amazing woman who supports women.

um but i went there you know because i wanted to study stand-up i wanted to see if maybe i could do it uh and i wanted to learn from the best people and she had the best people and i was just a sponge i loved watching stand-up comedy i'll always love stand-up comedy But I worked as a hostess because I had no balls.

And I wanted to see the shows for free, and I needed to pay rent in New York.

That would have been awesome.

Well, the connection is through Caroline Hirsch, who used to run Caroline's and now runs the New York Comedy Festival.

Yeah, that's going on this week.

Yeah, that's a world I know nothing about.

That that you see, you know, met the man, did the thing, partied crazy, went to the space coast and then came back to New York.

And this is and this is where life changed, because I ended up when I moved back to New York in 90, probably 94, 95, working at Caroline's Comedy Club on Broadway.

Yes.

And thus began.

a career in comedy that spans till this day.

Interesting.

So when you started working at Caroline's, what were you doing there at the beginning?

So my, my good friend Bridget was there and she knew I was coming back to New York and she said, I have a job, you know, you might be able to do and you might want to do.

Dane said, "It feels like the beginning of a new book instead of another chapter, and I'm appreciative to the festival.

I've known a lot of them from Caroline Hirsch back in the day when I was doing Caroline's to Louis Faranda and everybody." Louis is the, was the booker at, uh, Caroline's, uh, probably is the booker of the festival.

I haven't checked.

"To be able to go back and have a great time and watch this film that traveled through that festival in Madison Square Garden, the greatest stage in the world, it's almost hard to describe because I was there.

Yeah, thank you.

Look, I mean, this is the time of year that we always look forward to what Caroline and Andrew put together, you know, some 20 odd years ago.

I mean, this is a very big benchmark this year.

And I see you've got an amazing lineup starting on Friday, November 6th with Dave.

through.

Yeah.

So again, of course, hats off to Caroline Hirsch and Andrew Fox for creating the New York Comedy Festival, which we're now in our 22nd year.

It has grown to become the largest, longest running annual comedy festival in the country.
