I think Monica works a little better, but there's still a lot that happened in WandaVision that feels like a lot to gloss over.

Carol's really the only one who is a pretty good jump from just the last Captain Marvel movie, so if you've just seen the movies, you're fine watching it.

Of course, if you haven't just been watching the movies, this is not a great introduction for any of the characters.

This is just a continuation of all three.

we don't get enough development of the three of them as co-leads.

And because of that, they still kind of just feel like co-workers by the end of the movie.

Even Carol and Monica, who do have this familial connection, like, I just don't feel it as strongly as I feel like the movie wants me to feel it.

Right? Like, that should be Carol's daughter right there, but nope.

So if you think about it, these comics happen shortly after Rogue joined the team.

And if you think back a little further, this is after Rogue had absorbed Ms. Marvel's powers.

So a lot of people don't realize, but Ms. Marvel, Carol, actually was bunking with the X-Men for a while when she had no powers.

So if you think about it, they were really close with Carol and then she leaves and Rogue comes and is like, hey guys, I have nowhere to go.

I want to be an X-Men.

Yeah.

She is Civil War II Carol Danvers.

Ugh.

After this, Roger continues to be Jess's kind of, like, sidekick and also primary babysitter.
