Carl Kurlander

I've got some fantastic episodes coming your way.

I hope that you went back and listened to the two-part interview that I did with Carl Kurlander, the screenwriter for St. Elmo's Fire, and of course, the episode that I did with Michael Swerdlick, also two episodes.

He wrote Can't Buy Me Love.

I've got some great forthcoming episodes with screenwriters that you will not wanna miss out on.

Welcome back for another episode of Reality Life with Kate Casey.

Hope that you are having a great week, and I'm so excited because this is gonna be part two of my interview with Carl Kurlander, the screenwriter for St. Elmo's Fire.

This has been an incredible experience to walk with him through this movie.

And so if you have not already listened to part one, I recommend going back and listening to that.

His work there includes a film about Jonas Salk and the polio vaccine.

This is the story about a movie, but it's really a story about friendship, about getting through the rough seas of your twenties, and about how the people who carry us through those years can stay with us for the rest of our lives.

Here's the second part of my conversation with Carl Kurlander.

This would be the waitress, Lynn, who now lives five blocks from me, and myself as happy as I look considering her boyfriend took that picture.

I wanted to know who actually wrote this story and why.

So I tracked down Carl Kurlander, who co-wrote St. Elmo's Fire with director Joel Schumacher.

When I finally reached him, it happened to be his birthday.

Forty-two years earlier, on his twenty-fifth birthday, Carl sat at the very first table read with this cast.

You will also hear about so many of the moments that you remember from the movie actually happening to him first.

And once you hear Carl's story, you will never watch St. Elmo's Fire the same way again.

Here is my interview with Carl Kurlander.

I've tracked you down.
