Welcome both.

Thank you so much for being here for another episode of World Interrupted, a podcast where we're trying to take a step back from all the crazy news notifications our phones are obsessed with to look at how the world is changing and the UK's place within that as well.

And today we're talking about the US, a long-time ally of the UK, but a relationship that has seen some tension, some strain in recent years.

And before we talk about that relationship, I would like to talk a bit more about the US itself, its role as a superpower and how that's being contested.
