Caribbean Sea

The natural weather pattern that brings worldwide change in wind, and air pressure and rainfall patterns in forecasts and in reality to be the strongest in four decades.

Panama is a long, skinny, kinda S-shaped country in Central America, connecting North America to South America.

[map whooshes] Costa Rica sits on one side, Colombia on the other, with the Caribbean Sea and Atlantic Ocean to the north and the Pacific Ocean to the south.

Panamanians sometimes describe their country as Bridge of the World, Heart of the Universe, and it is very narrow.

[squeaking sound] At its skinniest point, Panama is only 60 kilometers wide.

Most of the country is hot and tropical, [fan whirring] with a wet season and a dry season [thunder] rather than four distinct seasons.

[birds chirping] Mountains run along its middle, including Volcán Barú, the country's highest point.

On a particularly clear day, people at the top might be able to see the Pacific Ocean on one side and the Caribbean Sea on the other.

But Panama's most famous feature is the enormous waterway cutting across it, the Panama Canal, stretching for about 80 kilometers.

Nearly all the streams of Central America that flow into the Pacific are short and steep torrents.

An important exception is the Lempa River that forms part of the interior boundary of Salvador.

So for a little bit of context, Belize is a tiny Central American country on the Caribbean Sea sandwiched between Mexico and Guatemala.

And Belize has a complicated relationship with sex education.

The country's church state school system gives religious institutions a major role in education, which makes it even more challenging for sex education to reach students consistently, and there are real-world implications.
