I guess they had been promising and had such quality and interest and humour and cleverness in what they've done to date.

I don't know why I would be surprised that the record is as good as it is.

Because sometimes bands disappoint when they run out of ideas, but they have not run out of ideas.

There's so many more new ideas in this and it's just so good.

Of all the post-punk artists from the early alternative music era, perhaps none more than this band did not get the attention from the world during their active years that they deserved.

This groundbreaking post-punk artist did receive praise from the critics for their brilliant work, but they never achieved the commercial success to go with it and was overlooked for one reason or another.

This band is The Sound.

The Sound formed in South London in 1979 and dissolved in 1988.

This post-punk band released their debut studio album, Jeopardy!, and it would follow with another post-punk classic in 1981, From the Lion's Mouth.

They would release three more albums and some EPs before disbanding in 1988.

The musical genius Adrian Borland was a singer, songwriter, guitarist, and record producer for a musical career spanning numerous groups as well as a solo career, but most notably, he was the front man and the force of the sound.

It's cool.

Just to give the nod to the Cardiacs, the Cardiacs have been on the same bill as Osric because they've always seen it as a bit of a proggy kind of festivally band.

You know, back in the very early 80s when the Osrics, I mean, I think even Cardiacs played Stonehenge a few times, a couple of times, back in the early, early days.

really early 80s because Cardiacs started in 77 so by the time they became as in Cardiacs yeah they've been on a few bills with a thousand hours they're even supported Osrics once because they had a hit in the charts and much companies go no bring him bring them along okay but the Osrics have shared a stage with everyone who we mentioned and I just want to pick up bone I showed you my Hawk Queen t-shirts And you said, Awkward 90s.

So this year we had Sixth and Cardiacs, and I don't think either of those were a repeat from the previous year.

But, but Al- but see, thing is as well, and Alcest is not, I mean, no disrespect to Sixth or Cardiacs, I mean, Cardiacs fucking sold some major tickets for it, but Alcest are a pretty sizable band, aren't they? They're doing some real sales in the, in the north.

After the festival, he wrote something on Facebook, which I just wanted to quickly read, because I fucking just blows my mind that someone who was in Ocean Size and is in Biffy and the Cardiacs, he wrote, It's the one place my shitty music is going to be received with open arms by a sizeable and hyped up crowd.

I've played seven times now across six different bands.

Each time I walk off stage feeling like I've played the best set of the weekend.

So good of the producers of that record to know about them and to include them because they did a great, great job.

Likewise, the Cardiacs from Modern Group, but that was from 1988.

Susanna is Still Alive, I decided to play too since I was doing a Dave Davies song.

That was a single of theirs, the only cover I think they ever issued, so they must have held it in particular high regard despite being Dave Davey's solo single.

But that was, Mock Turtles was his other big band, and he was doing a lot of those tribute records when it was kind of a new concept.

It wasn't the first time anybody did it, but he kind of kicked off the tribute album craze that spurred from the late 80s to the 90s, and that was one of the earliest and best of them.

Sadly, the Cardiacs singer Tim Smith died in 2020, aged 59, so may he rest in peace.
