Do you want to give a quick shout out to the one that didn't make the cut? A little honorable mention? The one, the
John HenryGUEST
19:28
honorable mention is Carcass Heartwork, which is...
John HenryGUEST
19:34
Other than At the Gate, Slaughter of the Soul, that's my number one favorite metal record of all time.
John HenryGUEST
19:40
I have a different story about getting into metal.

50 MINS LATER

John HenryGUEST

But yeah, they really did that well where they they maintain their sound like they didn't just come out and and do what like was cool in metal or what was popular in metal they made a record that you know like that seems like it could have been a follow-up and that is really fucking hard to do after 20 years you know i can imagine i haven't i haven't done it but i can imagine you know
Steven HillHOST
70:05
Yeah, I reckon it would be very difficult to follow.
Steven HillHOST
70:08
I mean, yeah, it's a lot of having to follow classic albums that we're talking about here, you know, be it The Beatles or Nirvana or At The Gates and I think even Carcass as well, you know.
Steven HillHOST
70:18
Oh yeah.

Killer Be Killed, Dream Gone Bad, Painted Wives, Stay With Me, great song, great band, Spiritual Beggars, Until the Morning, which we've played that band a few times in the past, and they are a great band, super group, featuring Michael Amat from, what is he from? Yeah, I don't know who Michael Amat is.
DiabloPANELIST
236:55
Carcass, and what is the one with the...
DiabloPANELIST

Broad singer, the death metal broad singer.
DiabloPANELIST

Arch enemy.
AlexHOST
73:43

MichaelHOST
73:46
home address is no we're doing Heartwork by Carcass we're doing the seminal 90's probably the first ever melodic death metal album it's gonna be a good time I really like this album I hope Ryan likes this album I also kinda hope he doesn't like this album cause either way it's gonna be fun what do you don't know what don't you know Is it the first one I like? I would say so.
MichaelHOST
74:10
Hard work, you said? Do you think
AlexHOST
74:12
Ryan's going to like
Martin PopoffHOST
16:18
So Cathedral was the favorite one.
Martin PopoffHOST
16:21
But Carcass as well with Heartwork, which was fairly accessible for Carcass.
Martin PopoffHOST
16:26
So they seemed there was a lot of excitement.
Martin PopoffHOST
16:28
They were on their way with that.
Jackie SmitHOST
124:25
Yeah, it just doesn't sit right with me.
Jackie SmitHOST
124:30
And then the other one, I mean, I've never been the biggest fan of Carcass, but I will say Swan Song was truly a low point in that band's career.
Jackie SmitHOST
124:39
I like Necroticism very, very much as an example, and Heartwork is, you know, I can take or leave, but I understand that it's a landmark record, but...
Jackie SmitHOST
124:47
Swansong, to me, there's no debate.
Alex WebsterGUEST
48:14
So I think both of those bands, even though they evolved into very tight-sounding thrash bands, Some of the things that they did on their early records had a massive impact on the death metal scene, and probably the black metal scene, too.
Joel McIverGUEST
48:27
What did you guys think of the UK stuff, like Carcass and Napalm Death? It was more in, like, a grindcore direction?
Scott PatrickGUEST
48:34
Especially, I like Carcass, but not as much as I like Napalm.
Scott PatrickGUEST
48:38
Napalm, to me, they had good production, but Napalm, to me, will always just be...
Scott PatrickGUEST
48:42
People say grindcore, they know what they want.
Ben SearleHOST

Nice.
Aaron OsborneHOST

Um, and then my last one is an EP, but the song itself ended up on an a- album later, but it's Under The Scalpel Blade by Carcass.

FredHOST

And here is another killer album that you have to check out.
FredHOST
26:38
Immediately when I pressed play, I felt At the Gates, Carcass, In Flames, but it would also be for fans of like Dissection, Septic Flesh.
FredHOST
26:47
The brand new album, In Darkness, Shadows Are Gone by Estider off of Rockshot Records is a phenomenal album mixing, I'm calling it black and death metal, and coming all the way from Colombia.
FredHOST
27:01
This album was recorded over four years and it really, for being such a long album time-wise, it really sounds cohesive and flows extremely well.
FredHOST
27:29
There's a lot of different styles in there.
FredHOST
27:31
As soon as I pressed play, I got an At the Gates feel within like the first 10 seconds and that sound carried with me throughout the entire album.
FredHOST
27:41
And if you know me, Slaughter of the Soul is one of my favorite albums of all time, which I'm still wondering, is Slaughter of the Soul better than Carcass Heartwork? Let me know which album you think is best in the comments.
FredHOST
27:55
I might do a versus video on that pretty soon.

this thing is forceful there's plenty of those black tones in that black metal style but there's tons of death in that death metal fierceness and maybe even some leanings towards extreme metal this is a really diverse album there's a lot of different styles in there as soon as i pressed play i got an at the gates feel within like the first 10 seconds and that sound carried with me throughout the entire album and if you know me Slaughter of the Soul is one of my favorite albums of all time.

But loving At The Gates so much, this album played right into it.
Andrew O'NeillHOST
49:44
Um, so in the studio, someone's going, "I know h- exactly how to make you sound how you wanna feel," right? So Colin Richardson produced this.
Andrew O'NeillHOST
49:52
The reason they got Colin Richardson to produce it is 'cause Dino Cazares, the guitarist and the main writer on this r- record, was a huge fan of Carcass and Bolt Thrower, and Colin Richardson had produced them.
