Dartmouth 3D Forensics on the Oswald Backyard Photos.

It tells about the computer scientist Dr. Henry Farid at Dartmouth College used 3D human modeling and computer vision to evaluate the infamous photo of Lee Harvey Oswald holding a Carcano rifle.

But again, this is older AI technology and it's more of a More of recreating a physiological accurate 3D model of Oswald inside of a computer and to determine things where shadows should go, given the time of day, the time of the photograph, and so on and so forth, placing virtual light sources, matching Dealey Plaza and Dallas Sun positions.

Again, a lot of problems there.

Look, without going into super detail, I can do this in another venue, but the truth is we've shot so many of these cartridges, even a replica of, uh, Lee Harvey Oswald's rifle, the b- the Carcano.

Right.

And what a sloppy rifle that was, and we shot it at distances allegedly the same as the Kennedy assassination.

And in the midst of this chaos, a detective from the Dallas Police Department walked through the crowd.

holding the Mannlicher Carcano bolt-action rifle that Oswald had used to kill the president, holding it up as he walked through the swath of reporters.

I mean, right then and there, he was probably corrupting the chain of custody of the weapon.

And the incredible brief, though, was the incredible, they allowed Oswald to take questions from reporters.

March 1963.

While browsing a mail-order pamphlet, Oswald, under the alias A. Heidel, purchased a second-hand 6.5-millimeter caliber Carcano rifle for $29.95.

Along with this purchase, he also ordered a .38 Smith & Wesson Model 10 revolver.

On the 10th of April, 1963, Oswald had become aware of an anti-communist figure who was ex-commander for the 24th Division of the U.S. Army, based in West Germany.

In a quick act of panic, Oswald pulls out a pistol and fires three bullets into Tippett, killing him then and there.

1.20 p.m. After raiding all the buildings near the scene of the assassination, officers find the recently fired rifle and three bullet cases lying on the floor nearby.

The rifle was quickly identified as a 6.5-millimeter caliber Carcano rifle owned by A. Heidel, also known as Lee Harvey Oswald.

1.30 p.m. Sirens blare out all across Dallas, Texas.

And this one guy said, [laughs] "Are you sure it's a Mauser?" He said, "It's on the barrel.

What are you talking about?" And he said, "No, it's a Mannlicher-Carcano." Huh? So that's when they said, "Something's up here." But Lee Harvey Oswald was there, having his chicken and his Coke.

Remember that? In the, in the lunchroom.

He was there.

I wouldn't have been in an honest courtroom because, for instance, the gun they attributed to him.

was an Italian Mannlicher Carcano that had a defective scope, a really cheap rifle.

They called it the Italian's contribution to humanitarianism.

You know, it was considered such a defective weapon.
