Why do we still have CAPTCHAs?

Because it was effective at stopping site scrapers.

But now it isn't.

So can

we get rid of it? Like removing code? Please, please, PSA,

if you have CAPTCHAs, please remove your CAPTCHAs and do something.

I have not done it yet, but I'm sure at some point I'm going to get so frustrated by this that I will laud cloat.

You have David Sachs, who founded Yammer later.

You have Max Levchin, who basically invented Captcha.

You've got this very impressive group of people.

And Elon is the CEO, and he's got to try and manage all of these geniuses.

I think the application is called like, are you a human or a robot? And it passed every single one.

So Captcha is not good anymore, or at least it's not doing its job.

What do you think we should use to protect ourselves behind companies like yours?

yeah uh so capture songs yeah we all know what capture is solving right capture is really trying to find is there are automations coming and uh doing some kind of some kind of engagement on my sites or filling the forms right so here um it's a more advanced version yeah right again i'm saying a is it's an assistant to the human right there might be a legitimate you think it's a it's a new entity right i'd say it's a new entity along with the human right so you just need to like what i said you need you you just need to see that is this new entity you can first First, you need to detect it.

to understand what bot traffic and what human traffic is.

And of course, everybody sees this as CAPTCHAs, right? When you have to verify that you're a human, that's why.

The funniest thing for me is, in my experience in dealing with this, to kind of firmly put my open internet pod hat on and cover a bunch of topics we've talked about previously, CAPTCHAs have never actually been that effective.

They do stop bots, but it's very easy, if you know what the capture is, to start training them to get better and better at it.

My experience previously is that honeypots were far, far superior in keeping things off a website.

But what I also got, it was an email from my AI service provider saying, this is not a valid use case.

You cannot be using our agents to solve CAPTCHAs.

So it's going to slap on the wrist.

And that kind of got me thinking is like, now we have these powerful agents, powerful AIs that want to be out there and act.

They're basically logging in as you in your browser and trying to conduct the transaction.

Now, as you know, there's this technology called Captcha, which tries to see that it's not like... an agent that's sort of, or it's a sort of a bot or an agent accessing the account instead of you.

Now, today, there are ways to validate and capture with AI, so you don't even actually have to have the human on the other end.

AI is

to find zoo entrances that are popular.

Instead, the autonomous agents aggressively exceeded this, launching 2,600 attempts to bypass anti-bot protections, defeat CAPTCHAs, probe pre-production servers, and actively use leaked developer credentials found in public source code repositories.

And, you know, just remember, benign prompts do not guarantee benign execution.

If the prompt is open-ended enough, doesn't have constraints on it, we can certainly expect some of these types of behaviors.
