Captain Comet

I absolutely loved that book.

Even the sort of curve balls that were thrown at us, like we always intended that the big reveal at the end of one issue was gonna be that they'd brought on board Adam Strange, but then DC decided they would do an Adam Strange series, and that became Captain Comet.

And it, and things like that were just fun in that book.

And a, a, a scene that I particularly enjoyed was the confrontation between Voe and Captain Marvel.

A variety of importance, right? But I thought, why not? Instead of...

archiving these things in a google doc why not just share them here on a podcast with you the listeners and then i can reference them in the future should i care to you know so for instance uh let's start with this one this is dated february 2012 And it's me talking about Captain Comet, which is something that I talked about in one of the other podcasts down the, you know, couple weeks back, I think, maybe.

So yeah, the last time I talked about Captain Comet was on the August 25th episode, which was a Timeline Tuesday.

And here's what I had to say all those years ago.

Captain Comet, Strange Adventures No. 9, 1951, first appearance, cover by Carmine Infantino, another favorite DC Cosmic character, that predates Adam Strange by seven years.

Outside of Who's Who, my first exposure to the Captain was in the Legion series that spun out of Invasion.

Interesting to note that the creative team of Legion wanted to use Adam Strange as their go-to choice to introduce some of DC's 50s cosmic history, But the character was about to get the Dark Knight treatment with the three-issue Adam Strange Man of Two Worlds story by Richard Brunning and the Kubert brothers.
