Uh, anyway, uh, going back to that time, that was the summer of '78.

So on the way, I had to transfer buses in Dupont Circle, and I'm walking through the park to check the transfer because there are other buses on the other side, and I see these people playing chess.

Whew.

I'm going to try to get through this without crying.

I mean, like, you know, I'm Cape Verdean.

My mother's parents were born on the island of Fogu, where the active volcano is in Cape Verde, in a village called Cabasa Dumont, face of the mountain.

My mom is full Portuguese.

Uh, I should say, wait, Cape Verdean.

My, my mom's Cape Verdean.

Okay.

Those who watch the World Cup, they are very much in tune now with Cape Verde and where Cape Verde is and everything.

So I'm very happy now that I no longer have to tell people I'm Portuguese.

I can say I'm Cape Verdean, and they're like, "Okay.

I know where that place is now," right? Uh, so for me, just growing up as a child, we had a very active household for the most part.

Yeah.

Who do you got winning the culture war? Cape Verdeans, Haitians, Bajans, Jamaicans, or Asians?

None.

You got to pick one, brother.

By the time Trump's done, only ones that will be left is Negroes from Mattapan.

So what was the choice

again? Cape Verdeans, Haitians, Basins, Jamaicans, or Asians.
