Cape Town Stadium

My children love rugby during the URC season.

We regularly go to DHL Stadium.

My daughter wants to pioneer girls rugby at her school next season.

But I have decided if my boy child wants to play rugby, I would ask him to wait until he is 14 years old.

We might never experience that again because apparently he only performs at his house now.

So the fact that we got to see him at Greenpoint Stadium.

Oh, just so

special.

It didn't feel like anywhere.

It felt like it was either at somewhere like at Ellis Park or at a combination of Ellis Park and Cape Town Stadium.

Is this a clip that you others have? No? Okay.

Um, and, uh ...

Maybe.

But the reason we're talking about this is because of a very high profile incident that happened at the DHL Stadium out in South Africa.

um when a Embraer jet in fact two Embraer jets did a fly past across the top of the stadium packed full of people just before a rugby match yeah and I wasn't the only one who looked at it and went holy cow um So before we get to the detail of that, what was your first impressions? And you've been involved again on X a bit about this, haven't you? And it's attracting a bit of

interest.

These last couple of years, especially for the home games in South Africa, you know, each stadium seems to outdo the next one as far as performance.

You know, you'll have a good one in Ellis Park, a good one in Loftus, and then it'll come to Cape Town, unfortunately, not Newlands, but DHL Stadium.

And I'd love to see that here.

I don't think it'll happen, but that's probably going to be the best thing is being able to look to the person to my left, to the person to my right, and realizing that this is all our home now and singing the anthem of the country that's closest and dearest to our hearts.

So let me kick off.

Last Saturday, and that was ahead of the Springboks and the All Black second test, two A-Link aircraft flew a spectacularly low pass in tight formation over Cape Town's DHL Stadium.

Close enough that flight tracking data clocked them at just 12 to 14 meters above the roof.

The crowd loved it, but social media didn't.

Don't let the belief go unexamined.

Whichever way you land, on the ballot, on the enclave, on staying home, land there because you actually tested it, not because it was the path of least resistance.

The plane over the DHL stadium was either safe or it wasn't.

Whatever the crowd decided to believe, November the 4th works exactly the same way.

Uh, they're coming a little bit closer.

They're still out over the water, but they're approaching the stadium, which is the DHL Stadium, I believe.

Well, anyway, after viral, viral footage caused concern about how low the two aircraft passed over DHL Stadium in Cape Town, South Africa, Flightradar24, a platform which tracks live flight data, calculated that the two Aerolink planes flew less than 50 feet, 15 meters, over the 55,000-capacity stadium before Saturday's second test match between South Africa and New Zealand.

After three games of rugby's greatest rivalry, the Springboks lead 2-1 after two throbbingly good games at Cape Town Stadium and FNB Stadium in Soweto.

It's been a fantastic competition so far.
