New at 11, children who need emergency care in Fayetteville will soon have more space of their own.

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center is expanding its emergency department, adding 24 pediatric beds and creating a larger space dedicated to younger patients and their families.

Hospital leaders say the expansion will separate children from the busy adult emergency wing.

The project also includes larger waiting areas and renovated restrooms.
