Cape Cod Baseball League

He was a public school teacher for a little bit right after playing.

And then once he got back into coaching, he coached in the Cape Cod League in 2017 and 2018.

Funny enough,

2018 was one of the years that we were there.

Really good numbers at Texas in his last year.

Good showing in the Cape League, too.

Um, he's still just under 90 pounds too.

So you, there may be, there's kind of a little bit more power projection to be had there, but I, it's Mets fans aren't going to like me for this, but I think like, um, Robbins and Jefferson Rojas are a lot closer than they'd like to admit in terms of like kind of profile and kind of what the future side is.

Now, I know you're a Chiefs fan, but I'm a devout Red Sox fan, so I've... born bread or whatever it is and uh there's one great accomplishment in my life I did get married in Fenway Park uh at third base so uh I I said I finally got the third base with my wife uh but uh so I mean we I think sitting in a ballpark sitting in Fenway Park to me at a game is like I just feel maybe the happiest moments you got.

She says it's watching Cape Cod League baseball or something like that.

But I think it's watching the success of other people.

I really think that's what, because, you know, and sharing that.

Absolutely.

Were you able to do any non-baseball stuff? I mean, it's interesting because normally when I'm interviewing guys for the Cape Cod League, they're not from anywhere, like they're not playing in Boston or in Chestnut Hill in your case.

But, you know, were you able to do some non-baseball stuff, go to the beach, do any fishing?

Yeah, actually, it was me, Ethan Ball, Mateo Serna, and Tommy Gooden.

So teams were evaluating, well, incomplete information.

What evaluators couldn't ignore was the raw stuff, the fastball, the cutter, the Cape Cod League dominance, the power arsenal.

Pirates rolled the dice on upside.

Most organizations would have done the same.

And so I think all those were a big help, and yeah, we just, we had a good relationship with each other, and I think that was the biggest thing.

So on the Cape Cod League, you broke out on that circuit mainly facing Division I hitters.

Mm-hmm.

And the stuff you played, uh, amassed nineteen Ks in five games out of the bullpen.
