Cantaloupe Island

Well, not really.

The background singers are singing, but that's Donald Byrd and his version of "Cantaloupe Island." And before that, we heard Eddie Holman with "This Can't Be True." Well, folks, that just about does it.

And this one was one of the first...

This is a classic called Cantaloupe Island originally.

Uh- And it's Herbie Hancock's tune, and it, it's a classic but what's happened here is it got really mixed in beautifully with Us 3, the band Us 3.

And at the very beginning of it, um, you'll think this is a woman introducing this song.

Uh, a- and it's, uh, at the Blue Note Club in New York.

They use that intro, that classic intro of this, of this song, and then they play this wonderful mishmash of, I guess, 1990s, the beginning of hip hop as being an, an acceptable genre.
