Caning of Michael Fay

Todd goes, Paul, why don't you up at the studio? Sunday night, I go up there.

He goes, you know the kid? Michael Fay's name was.

He was in Thailand, and he sprayed paint on my car.

Paul, he knew that I liked politics and stuff like that, so he knew I would get it.

So what we're talking about is the decoupling of societal consequences for actions, and it's a stark difference between the two parties.

And if you recall back in 94, whenever Michael Fay over in Singapore had been, you know, spray painting stuff and destroying signs over there, I'm sure you remember this.

They hit him with a cane.

Six canings, yeah.

Oh, it wasn't chewing gum.

Michael Fay.

There's no Kane in that, bro.

Michael Fay Kane.

So we got the, we got it wrong.

Michael Fay-

I got it wrong.

My bad

Yep, yep.

May 5th, American teenager Michael Fay was in the news after being caned in Singapore for vandalism and theft.

The case had become a major US-Singapore diplomatic and cultural controversy because President Clinton had personally asked Singapore's president to spare Fay from caning.

I don't remember that.

Oh, man.

Michael Fay had a buddy with him who pled not guilty.

He got off.

No, he got 12 strokes with the cane.
