So I guess you weren't necessarily thinking about if the mannequins had breasts or not.
2:16
I wasn't exactly.
2:17
But putting my personal experiences aside, I do know that there's a belief that chest compressions must be performed differently on men and women because of our booming chests.
2:27
And this is completely, absolutely not true.
2:31
So I looked into it and I learned that there is actually a solution.
2:34
It's called the womanikin.

What's concerning to me is that many of the women who have these might not even necessarily know that they have this kind and they certainly won't know the risks associated with
5:25
That's awful, and I imagine that having, like, larger breasts would also lift the suit up off the body and, like, leave part of you exposed.
5:33
Exactly.
5:34
I bring this up because South Africa is one of the places in the world where something was actually done about police vests.
5:40
So in the early 2000s, there was a surgeon at a hospital in Cape Town.
5:44
Her name was Dr. Elmien Steyn, and she criticized the police for failing to provide safe, mandatory, and across-the-board bulletproof vests for police officers.
5:53
And lo and behold, the police issued a statement shortly thereafter that they would be getting new life-saving bulletproof vests that are designed specifically for female cops.
6:02
The vests were lighter than the conventional heavy, bulky vests, and I believe more recently there've been improvements to make these vests even more contoured for the female figure.

Not that that excuses it, but it's an explanation.
