Well, so there's this dark theory that I learned about like when I was older saying that Candace is pretty much imagining Phineas and Ferb, that Phineas had died from something and she was imagining them and that Dr. Doofenshmirtz was actually like her psychiatrist.

There's this whole dark theory on their whole family, which was interesting when I found out like years later after watching it as a kid.
