Cancer survivor

Joining us today, we have Manisha Kumar, who's experienced this transformation from both sides.

Manisha is a fitness coach, a TEDx speaker, entrepreneur, and a breast cancer survivor, and one of the leading advocates for exercise oncology in India.

Following her own cancer diagnosis, she transformed her personal experience into a mission to help people live with and beyond cancer to rediscover strength through movement.

She's also the founder of India's First Scanathon, works closely with oncologists supporting breast cancer survivors, and has become a passionate voice for integrative strength training into modern cancer care.

Manisha, thank you so much for joining us today.

As a first question, I would love to hear more what first inspired you to dedicate your work to supporting people living with and beyond cancer.

First of all, thank you so much, Tatyana.

It's a real honor to be a part of Oncology Revolution.

There are no robust randomized controlled trials conducted in cancer patients for reduction of adverse cardiovascular events and therefore current recommendations have been extrapolated from non-cancer trials.

Cancer survivors may require combination therapies yet trials of newer lipid-lowering therapies excluded cancer patients and hence safety and efficacy data are limited.

The initiation of lipid-lowering therapy in cancer patients requires an integration of several factors which includes a careful assessment of ASCVD risk, drug-drug interactions, side effect profiles and prognosis.

Further work is required to personalise individualised risk scores for ASCVD in cancer patients and survivors.

Advances in

cancer screening, systemic therapy and supportive care over recent decades have markedly improved survival across many malignancies with greater than 22 million survivors anticipated in 2035.

In a meta-analysis article entitled Cardiovascular Risk Prediction Models in Cancer Survivors, a Meta-Analysis.

Sina Kazemian and colleagues from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran aim to summarize all available evidence and evaluate the predictive performance of CVD risk models in adult cancer survivors.

And in those listening sessions that we're trying to, we started those in May and are now in the process of ramping up to schedule the remaining listening sessions.

And this will be where individuals who Our cancer survivors would be in remission would have an opportunity to also share with us some of their experiences, as well as.

ideas and thoughts that would be beneficial to policymakers as well as providers in terms of how we can better serve and support cancer survivors across the territory.

So those, again, we have been working directly with this individual who is a part of the Cancer Coalition as well as someone from the American Cancer Society who is supporting us by trying to put out some blast emails to those individuals who fall in that category.

And we are hoping to get those listening sessions reactivated and completed across during the month of September.

So for those who are listening, You may be a cancer survivor, but you're not in active treatment or have not been in active treatment in the last 12 months.

Listen out and look out for some communication about the opportunity to participate in a listening session where we will do those on teams.

um and give everyone an opportunity to weigh in and the idea would be at the end of those listening sessions to distill that information look at themes that that have emerged and you know where there are gaps in supports and services across our territory share that information with policy makers including senators, who would have an opportunity to identify ways and strategies that we can put forward in the territory to better support our residents who are cancer survivors.

My, my main, uh, medical oncologist right now, he is a cancer survivor, so he's done great at, like, being extremely positive through all of this.

She is a bone cancer survivor, and she credits a law that the president had pushed, the Right to Try law, with giving her access to medicine she wouldn't have had otherwise.

They didn't give me the right to try experimental treatments, Mr.

President.

So it says, allegedly, the JPD dispatcher was going in the system and erasing criminal reports of stolen guns, etc.

Her boyfriend is a criminal.

He did a drive-by in her car.
