I'm your host, Brian Morrison, and today's episode is going to tie into one of our most popular recent interviews, our series on 427 with Lieutenant Colonel Chris Bray.

This series will focus on the history of tactical aviation in Canada, the history of special operations aviation in Canada, as well as the history and evolution of air power in Canadian Special Operations Forces Command or CANSOFCOM.

So here with me today to talk about this super interesting topic is Colonel Todd O'Malley, the current director

Air and Space at CANSOFCOM.

His career would later include leadership appointments across both tactical aviation and the NATO Flying Training in Canada program, including serving as Apache Flight Commander at 2 Canadian Forces Flying Training School, Deputy Commanding Officer and later B-Flight Commander at 427 Squadron, and eventually Commandant of 2 CFFTS in Moose Jaw.

After retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces in 2011, Todd flew for Stars Air Ambulance, instructed within NATO flying training in Canada, and worked with Boeing supporting the RCAF Chinook fleet before re-enrolling in the CAF in 2023.

In 2024, he was promoted to Colonel and selected as the Director Air and Space at Canadian Special Operations Forces Command Headquarters.

Todd has been married to his lovely wife for 28 years and they have two children.
