Canadian Martyrs

The Byzantine Feast of the Passing of St. John the Apostle is on Saturday.

And then I have to highlight the North American Martyrs, of course.

So St. Isaac Jogues and Companions.

St. Isaac Jogues is famous for being the Iroquois... bit off or chopped off his canonical digits, so his thumb and pointer finger, to try to prevent him from celebrating the holy sacrifice, but he received a dispensation from Pope Urban VIII, who considered him a living martyr, and then he went back to Iroquois and celebrated Mass, but then he was taken again, and then he was martyred with a hatchet chop to the head.

And all of the North American martyrs Their blood consecrated the modern state of Canada, the modern nation of Canada, and the modern nation of the United States, because some of them are in the modern state of New York, and some of them are in the modern province of Ontario.

So it's a beautiful thing for North America.
