Fergal LynchHOST
54:04
It was mentioned in the Irish Independent and it was mentioned all over the country about the clashes coming up in Mead LGFA.
Fergal LynchHOST
54:12
And everybody seems to have an opinion on it.
Fergal LynchHOST
54:15
Everybody has made a comment except Mead LGFA and Mead Camogie.
Fergal LynchHOST
54:19
Right.
Eoin BrennanHOST
4:38
And Kilmory O'Brien now, as we were speaking with Dave O'Brien last week about trying to kick on now.
Eoin BrennanHOST
4:44
And they didn't get an opportunity a couple of years ago when they had six days to kind of... get ready for Munster, win their first ever, senior, county senior title, but this time around, they have a little bit more time, and hopefully, a lot more, energy and ambition, to go a little bit further, looking at the, more county championships, the banner, what a huge win, Parting Mealick, making the breakthrough as well, doing big, winning the junior B, NS Diamond, a minor A football title, you know, Broadford Budike, winning the intermediate, Camogie, you know, Parting Mealick, doing a double really, in the junior A, junior A Camogie, and football, so, But so many stories around the place.
Eoin BrennanHOST
5:18
Scarif O'Connor doing the Junior B in your market with the Junior C Camogie title.
Eoin BrennanHOST

135:14
Your county, your stories, your paper.
Eoin BrennanHOST
135:20
Well, we've just come from the county final fever all over the place, and now we're into the real stuff in the Munster Club.
Eoin BrennanHOST
135:26
Can county champions go a little bit further along the line? We're going to start with the Camogie, the Munster Senior Camogie Championship starts.
Tom ClancyHOST
77:25
Matt, anything else on the hurling front before we cast our eye on
Matt O'CallaghanHOST
77:28
Camogie? It's the weekend that you'll dream of.
Matt O'CallaghanHOST
77:32
Like, do you know what? I'd like to see the nine games.
Tom ClancyHOST
77:38
Physically impossible, I think, yeah.
Tom ClancyHOST
79:40
We will be, as I said, looking in greater depth as well at previewing all the football finals as well next week.
Tom ClancyHOST
79:46
We'll have five of them up for discussion, so we'll run the rule over those as well.
Tom ClancyHOST
79:51
Matt, to move to Camogie, and my first question is the one I've been asked a few times this week.
Tom ClancyHOST
79:58
I haven't got clarity on it, but...
Tommy RooneyCORRESPONDENT
37:35
I'm sure it was similar in Clare and a couple of other spots around the county.
Tommy RooneyCORRESPONDENT
37:38
are we talking like well over 100,000 attending club finals at the weekend I think very easily even with senior finals you'd absolutely get that and then you take into account you've got LGFA and Camogie finals you've got junior intermediate finals and men's hurling and football as well there's so much happening but in Cork Owen look it was a titanic battle I didn't think the bars were at their best early doors and next thing Brian Hayes gets into it and they take a lead at half time you listen to Tomás Mulcahy afterwards like the emotion the emotion in all of these games Sunday games it's just it's personal wherever you go and for different reasons some people are trying to win something in honour of fallen teammates or people that have gone before them others are just trying to get one over on the neighbours and Mulcahy afterwards said no disrespect but beating the bars makes it sweeter and I love that I love that because that's what keeps us going in the GAA it's the local rivalry when it gets the club and getting one up on the neighbours and even though I'm sure maybe not with the bars this week because they've got a football final to come but the tradition in a lot of counties is that the losing team will go on drink a couple of points on the Tuesday maybe with the with the winners in their own pub in their local or maybe vice versa the winners will go over to the beating team and I just think these teams keep coming back and I just think, I just love it.
Tommy RooneyCORRESPONDENT
38:56
I just love the honesty of that.
Tommy RooneyCORRESPONDENT
38:57
But Patrick Horgan, Hoggy, delivering.
Ciaran NearyHOST
25:13
Absolutely right.
Ciaran NearyHOST
25:14
We'll take our first break, James, after we talk in Camogie with E. Flanagan.
Ciaran NearyHOST
25:17
We'll get the thoughts of Andy Comfort ahead of the senior final on Sunday.
Ciaran NearyHOST
25:33
And welcome back.

17 MINS LATER

Aoife LanniganCORRESPONDENT
42:40
It is, yeah.
Aoife LanniganCORRESPONDENT
42:40
I have Fergus O'Cohuir on.
Aoife LanniganCORRESPONDENT
42:43
He's a brother of Dara O'Cohuir who works with the Camogie Association.
Aoife LanniganCORRESPONDENT
42:48
Fergus did the film with Tommy Malone and Liam Fenley, the hurlers, and Anne Downey and Anne Dalton, the Camogie players, and they're showing it next weekend in Nolan Park.
Tommy RooneyHOST
3:35
Are we talking like well over 100,000 attending club finals at the weekend? I think very easily, even with senior finals, you'd absolutely get that.
Tommy RooneyHOST
3:42
And then you take into account, you've got LGFA and Camogie finals, you've got junior intermediate finals and men's hurling and football as well.
Tommy RooneyHOST
3:48
There's so much happening.
Tommy RooneyHOST
3:49
But in Cork on, look, it was a titanic battle.
Aoife LaneGUEST
2:52
It was incredible.
Aoife LaneGUEST
2:54
Great campus, made loads of friends through Camogie.
Aoife LaneGUEST
2:58
That was almost the gateway to friendships at the time as well.
Aoife LaneGUEST
3:02
And yeah, I've managed to build a career then from sports science, as lots of people have done too.
Aoife LaneGUEST
7:45
It was in partnership with Sport Ireland at the time.
Aoife LaneGUEST
7:48
So probably just slowly started to open up doors.
Aoife LaneGUEST
7:51
And then I'd say when I finished my PhD, I just sat on my laurels for a couple of years and Literally then just went to a Camogie All Stars and Dunlop Cusack mentioned about why isn't there a Women's Gaelic Players Association? I was like, oh, that might be something I'd be interested in.
Aoife LaneGUEST
8:05
And then, you know, your world takes off in a different direction then.
John MulliganHOST
11:36
That'll be an extra time job, if not more, on Wednesday night.
John MulliganHOST
11:39
Sir, before I let you go, and it would be unfair not to mention, and I know you were kind of keeping an eye on it, but the win for Ordenmore-Marie over Athenry in the Camogie yesterday, the All-Ireland champions knocked out.
John MulliganHOST
11:52
And, you know, you've had your own experiences with this game.
John MulliganHOST
11:55
You've seen some of these players in action.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
12:10
yeah unreal you see it just shows you like you know there's no there's no there's no certainty in Comoghie or in Ireland I was at the county final last year in Athenry and I have to say the atmosphere and the match between Athenry and Sarsfields
John MulliganHOST
12:21
was as good as you see
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
12:22
anywhere very very high standard and afterwards Athenry went on to win the Club All-Ireland just like Sarsfields has done Now, everyone was thinking in the Camogie circles that it had to be in Athenry, Sarsfield's final again.
Cyril FarrellPANELIST
12:32
That was the general feeling.
