Cameron Esposito

Yeah.

Uh, it starts with Cameron as the host doing a little intro.

Thoughts on the host, Cameron?

I- I don't know.

I think my big thing with this whole show, I am not a usually a big reality TV fan, but the vibe I get from this entire thing is that it's a drag king show that's not meant for fans of drag kings.

Yes.

But it just, the entire show and the way it sets up, it feels like it's constantly trying to explain itself to an audience who isn't prepared to like drag kings.

And I- I feel like that extends to the fact that you've replaced, uh, Murray Hill with Cameron.

Image number one was Margaret Cho.

Image number two was Carmen Esposito.

Image number three was Bruce Vilanch.

Image number four was Hannah Gadsby.

Yeah.

Bring in Cameron Esposito, friend of the show.

Yeah.

[laughs]

lovely.

I have to say, so Cameron Esposito is the new host.

Love them.

I do love them.

Yes.

But, again, I just, there's not, we're not given the same amount of opportunities and so there's not that many of us at that level.

I feel like I like it a lot better to have Cameron Esposito than I would ever like to have a drag queen host.

Oh,

And his impact will be felt significantly for the rest of the time that King of Drag is on TV.

I'm really excited, actually, to see Cameron Esposito as the host.

I think she brought so much really... great energy um almost immediately like the seeing the first scene and being like oh getting in makeup oh i don't get a mustache i don't get a you know also shout out to the makeup artist i don't think she was named at all but in the opening scene her facial expression just going like she was killing it so shout out to her um But, yeah, I really think Cameron is kind of stepping into the role and, you know, is bringing the Murray-isms, is kind of establishing herself differently, but is still, you know, honoring the essence of what the hosting role for this show kind of means.

And I thought, overall, her role in this episode was absolutely phenomenal.

He's got a song with a title at least similar to that, so I imagine Weird Al's in that episode.

Out today on the 800 Pound Gorilla's YouTube channel, Cameron Esposito's Four Pills.

Also out today, Vanessa Gonzalez has her comedy album, Mamona, via A Special Things Records.

It will also air on Hulu.

Season five, we did John Mulaney's Baby J.

Season six was Alex Edelman's Just For And most recently, as we mentioned, Cameron Esposito's Four Pills.

So these are all wonderfully, terribly happy specials detailing things like depression, suicidal ideation, coming out, racism, substance abuse, anti-Semitism, and of course, bipolar disorder.

All things that we love talking about on this show.

of the jokes, right? Like, I could really kind of feel how much he was having fun with the material as he was kind of running through the jokes.

And I think, ultimately, this is just a difference in the other topics we've discussed on this series before.

Like, Cameron Esposito's not going to have fun talking about her bipolar disorder.

Right.
