Celtic Warning Signs Continue To Pile Up | Systemic Team Issues w/ Alan Morrison
A
4:15Alan MorrisonGUEST
I think he did that really well and it ended up in success.
A
4:20Alan MorrisonGUEST
Where I am more concerned this season is when you see the two most senior professionals in the club and members of the leadership group in Callum McGregor and Cameron Carter-Vickers openingly questioning and what they're being asked to do on the pitch, and really seeming to more or less say that there is insufficient organisation, insufficient shape, insufficient patterns of play, etc.
A
4:49Alan MorrisonGUEST
That is massively alarming, because we're back to almost this kind of open dissent that we saw under Wilfred Nancy's brief tenure.
A
5:00Alan MorrisonGUEST
And as I said at that time, If the players are not with you, you're pretty much done.
A
5:11Alan MorrisonGUEST
And whilst, as I say, that may not fully be the case here, we don't know, certainly you can only respond to those very strong signals in that sense and be concerned about it.
J
5:27John McGinleyHOST
Is it the fact they said it at all, Alan, or is it because what they said particularly resonated with you with what you're seeing in the team too?
A
5:34Alan MorrisonGUEST
I completely understand and agree with what Cameron Carter-Vickers said.
A
5:40Alan MorrisonGUEST
Whilst it's interesting, and maybe, John, you've got more insight into this than me, operating in the formal media world, that reaction to what Carter Vickers said seemed to generate a certain reaction from pundits, and when Callum McGregor said almost exactly the same thing, it didn't, which probably is an interesting story in itself, but anyway, that's outside of my...

I tried my hardest to highlight the comments with myself on this show, of course, but I do think there was a bit of a disparity between...

And maybe it was because what Cameron Carter-Vickers said came after a Rangers game and that just put a magnifying glass on it all.

Hibs and Rangers Reach Premier Sports Cup Final | Guest Joe Newell Talks the Panel Through the Win
A
49:47Alan HuttonHOST
That's their, what, fourth win in a row? Yeah.
A
49:50Alan HuttonHOST
I mean that's brilliant they're sitting in fourth at the moment I know the two Dundee teams are still to play but we know how they want to play they're playing at a level that everybody knows it's exciting they want to move the ball around the pitch they want to get balls into the box they want to create opportunities and that's what they've done and look Carter Vickers there, I mean, he has to do better.
A
50:10Alan HuttonHOST
His body shape, he's not expecting the ball there.
A
50:13Alan HuttonHOST
He's just caught in two minds and, look, still a great touch and finish.
FALKIRK EARN HISTORIC CELTIC WIN AS RANGERS BOOK HIBS FINAL | MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER

And not only what you're seeing in the pitch, I think Celtic are just an absolute PR disaster just now.
A
16:21Andy HallidayPANELIST
I mean... through all the sort of scrutiny that comes I think the players aren't helping themselves with some of their comments I don't think Martin O'Neill's helping himself with some of his comments we heard Cameron Carter-Vickers what he said after the Rangers Celtic game I didn't agree at all with Calum McGregor's comments last week and Martin O'Neill came out and agreed with him the following press conference so I think everything at this moment in time seems a little bit of worrying I don't know how much longer you can use this while we're top of the league because on Wednesday If Celtic had went and done the business against Dundee United, the narrative at that point was they could be nine points clear at the top of the table come Sunday.
A
16:54Andy HallidayPANELIST
They're only four points now, four days later, with Rangers having a game in hand.
A
16:57Andy HallidayPANELIST
And people expect that to become one.
25 MINS LATER
M
41:30Marvin BartleyPANELIST
The amount of times that Fulcote just turned the ball over and went straight down the heart of Celtic, that has to be a massive worry for Martin O'Neill and his coaching staff.
A
41:37Andy HallidayPANELIST
Yeah, and I just want to pick up on something you said, Kevin, about the centre-half position.
A
41:42Andy HallidayPANELIST
I remember the start of the season, and correct me if I'm wrong, I think it was Sean Maloney that said that Celtic are content with the centre-half position, and I remember saying on the show that that baffled me, because your best centre-half, who's been... terrific for Celtic it's Cameron Carter-Vickers and there's never been a guarantee that Cameron Carter-Vickers sorry can play 15 games in a row never mind complete a season so you're then relying on obviously the other three one of them is Dane Murray who has been hugely untested at 24 year old and the other two in trustee and Liam Scales Celtic fans have never been a fan of so I actually thought the centre half position was almost one of the priority positions going into the summer you're now left with that position and then just to follow on to what Marvin was saying in terms of Celtic off the ball that's actually why there's a clamour for Yang to come back and play it's because what he gives the team off the ball it's not even what he gives the team on the ball
G
42:31Gordon DuncanHOST
see just quickly on that and don't be too clever after the event and then nitpick at everything but is there a case to say that actually now would have been the time to just keep Dan Murray in give him a bit of run of games Cameron Carter-Vickers is coming back Celtic never used even when he was in his pomp Celtic it feels like wouldn't risk him on the Astro but now this goes back to what we're saying where the next time when's Dan Murray going to come back in and Ibrook's away or something and then he'll have a tough day inevitably and then he'll be back until he's not good enough was this not the ideal chance to keep him in

Oxlade-Chamberlain, and then they play through them the gap where McGregor should be because Carter-Vickers gets dragged out the center forward.
S

McGregor should be in there.
S
28:16Simon FerryHOST
He's here, and they just play through that space.
P
28:19Paul SlaneHOST
That was Ca- That, that had to be Cameron Carter-Vickers' worst ever Celtic performance, surely.

Oh my God.

28:23Paul SlaneHOST
He just, he couldn't do anything right all could he? I don't think though even before, I know he's just came back in, I don't think at this, when he was in the team at the start of the season he looks the same player.

And that's the f- I said earlier, that's the fourth time this season a player's come out and questioned the, the, the tactics or this.

I mean, Cal McGregor, I mean, it wasn't a cry for help last week, but it was pretty stark what he was saying after the game last week against United.
K
20:39Keith JacksonHOST
But where are you on that? Because with Cal McGregor, Cameron Carter-Vickers, There's a touch of the Man United's here.
K
20:49Keith JacksonHOST
You're actually getting players, and it's very unusual at Celtic, players standing up and calling things into question that would normally be considered above their pay grade.
K
20:59Keith JacksonHOST
Where are you on this?
Celtic fans should be ashamed
A
5:22Alex RaePANELIST
How do you legislate for your best centre-half dolling it to the centre-forward after three minutes? It's just like unexplicable stuff.
A
5:30Alex RaePANELIST
For a guy who was, for me, one of the standout players, he looks to be struggling in Carter Vickers currently to get back up to speed in terms of the injuries that keep reoccurring.
A
5:41Alex RaePANELIST
So it was a really good start for Falkirk.

Cameron Carter-Vickers had plenty to say after Ivericks, I think it was, or maybe the second game against Rangers.

Carla McGregor said a few things to say in recent times.

It was just woefully bad.

And he had a chance before, the ultimate mistake.

We do it to scales the last few years because you'd rather have him passing the ball than Carter Vickers.

Carter Vickers, yeah.

And...
D
18:37David EdgarHOST
You know, and teams, we've seen it a million times, right, with Rangers, where teams are sitting in, they're not moving, they're not moving from their shape, they've no interest in having the ball and they're not coming out, right? They'll hit the ball long to a striker every so often and try and get runners, but that is it.
