Gabby HazeHOST
1:43
I had an interesting experience yesterday.
Gabby HazeHOST
1:46
I got to go to the Camden County Court and watch them.
Gabby HazeHOST
1:50
And an actual lesson in civics happened right in front of me.
Gabby HazeHOST
1:58
I watched 10 or 12 of them go through, maybe more, and the judge had to deal with this.
Gabby HazeHOST
2:21
I don't know what it cost the kid, maybe $500 to get out of it or to go out on probation.
Gabby HazeHOST
2:27
And, of course, they've got a prosecutor that's a complete asshole.
Gabby HazeHOST
2:30
And we just had the election between the prosecutor's office and basically the sheriff's office in Camden County.
Gabby HazeHOST
2:36
And they elected a crony of the sheriff.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
58:03
So they're basically creating their own town and what they're doing here.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
58:07
And, um, originally it was part of Camden and Camden County and they, they shut it down because there is a data center that they're trying to include in it.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
58:19
And the community here is not okay with the data center.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
58:25
We're not okay with, um, basically TIFFs and, um, allowing big corporations to, what I feel, is abuse the small man and coast on the backs of the people, if you will, just because they're a big corporation and they come here and they say, well, we'll do business with you if you make sure we don't pay taxes in the local area.

Josh ButterfieldHOST
71:48
This will not only affect our homes and our tranquility, but this will also affect our businesses and the tourists who visit.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
71:54
I, for one, wouldn't want to rent a place that has a constant data center home all night long.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
72:00
Camden and even Camden County have denied the data center involved in this project, but it seems the big money entity now wants to go to the smallest town possible so they can eventually push it through.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
72:13
Logically, it's easier for them to sway a couple city council members than it is to overturn the will of the majority of the lake's residents.
PaulieHOST
63:29
I don't go to their meetings.
PaulieHOST
63:30
I've never been to a Camden County Republican meeting and never will.
PaulieHOST
63:34
I don't play by their games.
PaulieHOST
63:36
My individual power comes from my ability to gain what I can by myself.

20 MINS LATER

Josh ButterfieldHOST
83:21
I'm talking multiple levels.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
83:24
It's more extreme than anything.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
83:26
Camden County is seen as extreme.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
83:28
The shit I'm talking about is way
Mark BonnerHOST
21:28
That same dynamic is already showing up inside OZ nominations.
Mark BonnerHOST
21:33
In Camden County, Missouri, more than 100 residents showed up to a county commissioner's meeting to oppose a proposed OZ site with a data center component, and the commission ended up rejecting it.
Mark BonnerHOST
21:45
How does Clarion think about that kind of reputational and political risk, especially with OZ 2.0's new annual reporting requirements that put a lot more of this activity on the public record?
Jason GlasserGUEST
21:57
yeah so i was i was at this very informative oz conference last week in in new york it was put on by biz now um and uh there was a really great question and mark mark didn't tell me to say that um but go go attend the oz conference in your city thank you so much But a very similar question came up, and there were leaders in the OZ space up on the panel, and they acknowledged that data centers in today's economic environment probably don't need added incentives to get built.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:01
I've told this before.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:02
When I first won the primary for presiding commissioner, we were down at Patriot's Dinner for the Republican Club, Camden County Republican Club.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:10
We were over at the church there in Camdenton.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:12
And, again, I had just gotten elected and hadn't won the general yet, although there was no opponent, so I effectively was the presiding commissioner, right? Right.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
19:41
cowboy hat? I don't recall that.
Josh ButterfieldHOST
19:43
I must admit I don't recall that.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:45
So he comes in and says, how you doing? Sure wish you would have come down here because he never came down to Camden County to campaign at all.
Ike SkeltonGUEST
19:51
One time he drove a bus down here, saw people for a few minutes, and then left.
JRHOST
4:00
Oh, AI.
JRHOST
4:00
Are you listening, Camden County? Oh, AI.
JRHOST
4:02
Oh, AI.
JRHOST
4:03
It's so bad.
JRHOST
5:19
Donald Trump's high on AI.
JRHOST
5:21
So let's take the other side of the issue.
JRHOST
5:23
Camden County's like, okay.
JRHOST
5:24
Okay.
