In spite of all the horrible things that are going on, I got triggered when I saw Trump sign this executive order for fraud and cash for people, for whistleblowers.

It's literally jutting out into Lake Superior.

The towns of Houghton and Hancock sit toward the southern end of the peninsula, and it makes for a really convenient home place, while the road north eventually takes you through historic mining towns like Calumet and all the way up to Copper Harbor.

And one of my favorite things about this trip was how different each area felt.

We made our home base in Houghton, and it felt very lively and walkable.

So we went to McLean State Park, and let me just say this now, do not sleep on McLean State Park.

We went there three times, my kids loved it so much.

The park sits between Hancock and Calumet and has two miles of Lake Superior shoreline.

It's known for its sunset and views across the water toward the Keweenaw Waterway lighthouse.
