Callum Wright

There's just something... really, really missing.

And players we brought in, like Callum Wright, looks like a prospect, but again, should we really be signing prospects? We tried that a few years ago with the likes of Melkerson.

Didn't really work.

We then went down the route of your Dwight Gales and things like that.

We lost a lot of our midfield players.

So we had Callum Wright in there, who came in from Plymouth and I think has now gone up to the Championship.

Matt Smith, who I think has just joined Stevenage.

We lost a lot of very good quality at the end of last season.

I think we've shown great endeavour over the first five games.

But when you lose, as I said, Joe Taylor, I mean, the guy's going to go and bag probably 25 this season, I'd imagine at least.

Callum Wright, he's moved up.

Sam Tickle, who was our absolute star.

They're just needing Jamie McGrath to get, h- hit his heights again, Nicky Cannon.

Obviously, the quality he's got from that side, Callum Wright, he's your quality players, and they'll be looking for a little bit more from those guys to help them go and win games, 'cause I've seen them a lot this season.

You know, they've been really good.

Eh, today they weren't just quite at it.

He takes off...

Callum Wright, he puts on Miguel Chaiber just to kind of shore up that midfield.

And he puts on Adam Mayer as well.

And, you know, Mayer obviously scoring the goal and coming close to adding more.

And I think probably when he's seen the line-up come out and saying, no, Adam Mayer, I think that probably would have been the first sort of surprise.

But then seeing that there was McGrath, there was Wright, there was Boyle, and there was Lowe, all as a sort of front attacking line-up.

And I think that's probably what caught...

Dundee out especially in the beginning because they were a wee bit all over the place the press was all over the place and I think it was actually partly because of what we had in the front areas but also what Jacob Devaney's like what he brought to the middle of the park which then allowed Mulligan to do a little bit more and allowed Passlack to push a little bit higher so essentially we had low up the sort of he was just trying to occupy Astley and Bevan who were at centre half Boyle was on this side Wright was in this sort of left inside position but he did more than that it's a bit redundant to say that's all he did he did much more than that and then McGrath was out in a left wing back role and we spoke about last week how he played there you know he's had experience there before and he did brilliant out there when he has done but you sort of sometimes felt like it's a wee bit wasted having him out there when he could be doing so much more in the middle and What it allowed, obviously, Paslak, I think, committed and certainly played a lot higher.

I had a quick look at Huddle and Statsbomb and certainly Paslak was really influential on that right side.

I remember from last season how often, when you looked at the end of games, his average position was sometimes closer to the halfway line compared to, say, Nicky Caddins that would be up there.

And where it caused...

Dundee a lot of problems was because he Devaney's almost exclusively sat deeper to try and link on the ball I don't think they really got to grips with pressing the back three so they were trying to press the back three and he was just finding out Devaney was just getting us lots of space obviously because we had these guys as wingbacks Bevan and I think it's Charlie Riley on the other side they were getting pinned in here and obviously for Ryan Finnegan and Ethan Hamilton, who were deep, they were constantly getting overloaded because they were 3v2 in the middle in this position here, you can see.
