Sam LorHOST
The movie's wide scope does lead to a pretty strong showing of the game's deep bench of fighters, and the flavor each of their personalities bring to this whacked-out stew are the undeniable highlight of the movie.
Sam LorHOST
Through its first half, Street Fighter bends over backwards to introduce game characters like Chun-Li, Kalina Liang, Guile, Cody Rhodes, Vega, Orville Peck, Dhalsim, Vidyut Jamval, and Cammy, Mel Johnson, and to keep them in the mix as the tournament begins in Metro-Laos City.
Sam LorHOST
These characters' personal reasons for accepting their invitations become wholly irrelevant after they're in the door, but Street Fighter is no weaker for that.
Sam LorHOST
With no responsibilities to the plot, these fighters are given license to be as bizarre and funny as their individual performers can sustain.
Benjamin NorrisHOST
You know, Chun-Li is an iconic character as a street fighter.
Benjamin NorrisHOST
And an actual fact with the choices that they had with Kalina Liang is she was great in this film.
Benjamin NorrisHOST
She did a great job with Chun-Li.
Brose AvardGUEST
She was phenomenal.
Dan BurkeHOST
But six years later, a dictator by the name of M. Bison, who's played in this film by David Dastmalchian, is the dictator of a land by the name of Shadaloo, who organizes the second World Warrior Tournament in Metrolow City to draw Ryu out of hiding.
Dan BurkeHOST
And then Chun-Li, who is played in this movie by Kalina Liang, who is an undercover Interpol agent seeking revenge for her father's murder at Bison's hands.
Dan BurkeHOST
Again, another typical kung fu subplot or kung fu movie subplot.
Dan BurkeHOST
Actually recruits Ryu, Ken, and other fighters from around the world to take part in this World Warrior Tournament.
Dan BurkeHOST
Here, I feel like David Dastmalchian incorporates the deadpan acting for which he's well known, which doesn't quite fit the character or doesn't make him as menacing, I think, as he should be.
Dan BurkeHOST
And that's really a disappointment.
Dan BurkeHOST
Especially considering that I think that the best actor in this film was Kalina Liang, who plays Chun-Li.
Dan BurkeHOST
And I think that Andrew Koji does well here as Ryu, but he unfortunately is a very predictable character.
Grace RandolphHOST
Really good duo.
Grace RandolphHOST
Number four, uh, Kalina Liang as Chun-Li.
Grace RandolphHOST
Uh, I wish I could've put her higher, to be honest with you, but she not only didn't have a lot of fighting scenes, but for, because she was doing her own investigation, for a lot of the movie, she was off by herself, so that also kind of, you know, separ- you know, it didn't give her...
Grace RandolphHOST
She couldn't have as much fun as everybody else.
HankHOST
And I thought he did a good job of being this fighter who's trying to control this dark energy inside of him.
HankHOST
Kalina Liang played Chun-Li, and I'll just say yes, and we'll just move on.
HankHOST
No, I'm just kidding.
HankHOST
You're gonna have a hard time unseating Ming-Na Wen.
HankHOST
Everybody knows that she is one of my favorite actresses of all time.
HankHOST
And so taking on this role, it's a tough sell for me.
HankHOST
But I thought Kalina Liang did a great job of bringing the character to the screen in the modern era.
HankHOST
I'm sorry if all these name pronunciations are terrible, but some of these names are wild.
Tiana DeNicolaHOST
I'm Tiana, and my guest today plays Chun-Li in the new Street Fighter movie, which is out right now.
Tiana DeNicolaHOST
Please welcome Callina Liang.
Callina LiangGUEST

So let's go with some of the positives in this movie first, guys.
Ryan SpragueHOST
Now, visually, this was a feast.
Ryan SpragueHOST
It was so much fun.
Ryan SpragueHOST
Let's talk about two other characters.
Ryan SpragueHOST
Kalina Liang playing Chun-Li.
Ryan SpragueHOST
She was good.
Justin LawrenceHOST

Tyler JohnsPANELIST
But the cast is pretty solid.
Tyler JohnsPANELIST
You've got Noah Centineo as Ken, Andrew Koji as Ryu, Kalina Liang as Chun-Li, Roman Reigns from the WWE as Akuma, David Dasmalchian as M. Bison, Cody Rhodes as Guile, the comedian Andrew Scholes as Dan Habeke, Eric Andre as Don Savage, and Jason Momoa as Blanca, and then finally you got Curtis Jackson, better known as 50 Cent, as Balrog.
Tyler JohnsPANELIST
So pretty good cast there.
Tyler JohnsPANELIST
Not a whole lot of acting talent there, but it'll be fun.
