Call of Duty 3

So I had been at Treyarch as Treyarch started up another Call of Duty team to complement the Call of Duty team that was at Infinity Ward.

And we were crunching like crazy on games like Call of Duty 3, which was a weird interim Call of Duty game.

was not made by Infinity War.

It went back to World War II.

Yeah, the price stuff feels very like there's like some John Wick type, you know, you're like a nightclub and stuff.

And there's like, you know, hand to hand stuff going on where it's like you're almost like parrying in first person, which is funny because I remember that was the big thing for Call of Duty 3 back in the day is like up close and personal, like kind of melee combat.

But it works a lot better here.

The parry stuff is fine.

[laughs] I mean, that's a billion-dollar franchise.

And, and to the point, if you wanna know how big of a thing it is, when, you know, when the sales of, like, Call of Duty 3 dropped off from, uh, whatever it was the one year before where, like, was half the perf- numbers, right? It, it equaled to, like, a billion dollar loss for Microsoft.

[laughs] So he is, he is very right that it's a very large franchise and, you know, um, is big.

I- but I think he's kind of hoping a little bit here, 'cause I don't know.

So that was when I was like, "Okay, maybe it's time to stop playing this game." Um, but yeah, I don't know.

Like, I, what I loved about, like, Call of Duty 2 and even, like, Call of Duty 3 was that, like, it just had a compelling narrative, man.

Just, like, sitting there playing the, the campaign itself was-

Oh, yeah

But going to the point of Call of Duty, right? Because I had pulled it from starting with like 05 or Call of Duty 2.

As you can see, it was a number three selling game, right? Then you go to 06 and where is it? Call of Duty 3 was all the way down to 7th.

Then you go to 07, Modern Warfare 4 is 3rd.

Then 08 is a Grand Theft Auto year.

I can read it off to the people.

Brock, we all know Brock is just Call of Duty 3 and 3.

He's got three of the nine games as COD.

He's got MW3, the OG, Black Ops 3, Wii Sports, Mario Kart Double Dash, a game I've never seen in my life, ATV Quad Power.

Like, I mean, they, they really went from like, "Oh, we're, we're cool being second tier," to like, "Ah- We're gonna take this shit.

Yeah, like, uh, I w- what, which one was it? Um, oh, the, the best Call of Duty other than, like, Call of Duty 3, the big red one.

The big red one was an excellent game.

And then, uh, the first, uh, Modern Warfare.

Um, Call of Duty 2, same thing.

Treyarch did Call of Duty 3.

And then World War II was Sledgehammer Games.

Vanguard was Sledgehammer Games, so on and so forth.
