California Winter League

Page was winning a lot of games.

And then in the offseason, he would go to California, and he would pitch in the California Winter League.

And he also had great teammates there.

And again, a lot of the black players would go to these.

The California Winter League took place in Los Angeles.

Mullane did not go quietly, though.

He played 11 games in Oakland in the California Winter League.

Then in 1895, he signed with the St. Paul Apostles of the Western League, where he hit .320.

He stayed in St. Paul until May of 1898, when he became the captain and manager of the Western League's Detroit Tigers.
