Who is opposing this measure, and why?

Uh, anti-tax groups like the California Taxpayers Association, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, as well as the PAC Reform California, run by Republican assembly member Carl DeMaio, uh, a former chair of the Fair Political Practices Commission, Dan Schnur, and they all argue that the measure is written too broadly.

It leaves each government to set its own eligibility criteria and spending limits, and that makes the system vulnerable to abuse.

David Klein is spokesperson for the California Taxpayers Association, and he thinks taxpayer dollars shouldn't be used for campaigns.

The whole idea on its face is, is bad.

Tax dollars should be used to help the taxpayers, to help constituents by promoting reasonable, efficient government services, not to give money to a candidate to then put out a hit piece mailer on an opponent and not to flood our mailboxes with even more junk mail from campaigns every election season.

Who's coming out against Proposition 3, and, and what's the argument on, on their end?

Yeah, you've really seen opposition from Republicans and kind of taxpayer advocacy groups, including the California Taxpayers Association, the Howard Jarvis Taxpayers Association, who have basically made the argument that Californians face too much of a burden in taxes, and that th- the state needs to start doing s- things to lower the tax burden on individuals.

There is a group, Reform California, led by Republican Assembly member Carl DeMaio.

He has come out against, uh, Proposition 3, but also against Proposition 40, which is the billionaire wealth tax.

Well, Scott is brilliant, and he's fighting for you every day in that ridiculous building, the capitol, where they are trying to take even more of your money every minute.

You know, our friends at CalTax, a sister organization, kind of a sister organization, kind of a stepchild sister organization.

We're not really, we're not really related-

I don't know how CalTax would feel about that.

Yeah, you know.

[laughs] We're not really related, but, but we're neighbors, and we're very friendly.

They're usually up to raising your taxes.

We have a new number from CalTax, our friends at the California Taxpayers Foundation, 181 local tax measures on the November ballot, totaling almost $3 billion for voter approval.

This is so frustrating because you pay enough and it's never enough.

You know, yes, bottom line, from their perspective, it's never enough.
