California Love

What we got for 96?

California Love, Pac and Dr. Dre.

Okay.

I can't argue with that one, but there's a lot of, he had a lot of competition that year.

To me, it could have been up there, too.

That was a tough one.

California Love was another

anthem, though.

In one of the most electric moments in recent concert history, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg stepped out as surprise guests, igniting the stadium with a run of iconic anthems.

The absolute climax came when the duo launched into the timeless classic California Love, turning the entire venue into a massive wall-to-wall celebration of hip-hop history.

Seeing New York's biggest titan hold court while Dre and Snoop performed Tupac's legendary ode to the Golden State was a level of live showmanship that instantly set a new benchmark for stadium concerts.

Musically and visually, the production is pure magic.

The un-California love, the West Coast icons run through a medley of heavyweights like nothing but the G-Tank, the next episode, and still three.

Jay-Z didn't just share the stage, he actively celebrated the culture, connecting his three-decade Brooklyn legacy with the undeniable sound of the West Coast.

HLV even took a moment between hits to speak directly to the crowd, encouraging fans to trust their own eyes and ears over online noise in the modern digital age.

Combining high octane, classic emote, deep mutual respect and pure, steady energy, the final felt less like a standard two-stop and more like a coronation of rap royalty.

[laughs]

Um, how about some California Love from Tupac and Dr. Dre?

Nice.

Nice.

Dre was still on his victory lap from the Chronic.

So the first record he did when he got out there was California Love.

Wow.

California Love.

Fresh on bail.

California

I'm just saying, if I ...

I mean, not to give it away, but if you play Not Like Us and I play California Love, California Love beats Not Like Us.

In the '90s.

No, it beats it now.

Not Like Us is, Not Like Us is the new California Love.

California Love beats Not Like Us.

Well then I just won't play it against, I just won't play Not Like Us that round.

[laughs] I'm just telling you, Tupac and Dre on the same record.

Tina Turner.

Question number three, a central figure in the '90s West Coast rap scene, what artist released the first hip hop double album, All Eyes on Me, that yielded the number one hit singles How Do You Want It and California Love? He is considered one of the greatest rappers of all time.

He is Tupac.

Tupac Shakur.
