Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute

Dr. Alexander's ongoing support of the Rise Caldwell-Watauga program was described extensively in her nomination.

The partnership between Watauga County and Caldwell County Schools, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, and the economic development organizations in the two counties has seen employers expand work-based learning opportunities for local students.

Watauga County Schools in the Boone Area Chamber of Commerce held the inaugural trade signing day back in April of this year to recognize students that have earned and pursued industry credentials across 11 different CTE concentrations.

We are excited to host this event once again in 2027.

This event showcased CTE student achievement and brought together families, educators, employers, Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute staff, along with leaders at Appalachian State University and connected students with regional career opportunities.

All eight regional finalists will be recognized at the NCCAT.

That's another acronym.

We talked earlier about Watauga High School's strong CTE program that has been enhanced by Rise Caldwell Watauga, which placed Watauga students in paid apprenticeships at UNC Health Appalachian just this year.

He dropped out of App State, took the semester off, and went home to his parents in Kernersville.

In January 2016 he came back to Boone, moved in with his fraternity brothers, and enrolled in online classes through Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute.

The general idea was that he would eventually be getting back into Appalachian State, but whether this was his actual plan or not is a bit harder to figure out based on his strange behavior.

He told his family he had a job keeping him busy, and he told his roommates he was spending his time with his cousin.

I'd love to see us continue to grow these programs with partnerships with local trade businesses and that would inspire these kids themselves to start their own businesses right here in the community.

This is near and dear to my heart, especially with Caldwell Community College because my grandfather, who served on the county commission, he was a vital part in securing the land where the Watauga campus currently sits.

So I'm a big supporter of partnerships with Caldwell County and any type of businesses and helping the local community out.

Thank you.

I want to take you to Bo Davidson in San Francisco.

Bo Davidson, the young 24-year-old, went to Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute in Hudson, North Carolina.

But Bo Davidson got up for his first taste of Major League Baseball at the telltale end of the year.

He was 7 for 20 without an extra base hit, but he did hit .350.

And he reluctantly, I guess, went back and joined, what's the name of the school? It was a junior college down in North Carolina.

Caldwell Community College and Technical Institute, Hudson, North Carolina.

Put up big numbers and an area scout for the Giants named Paul Falk.

Spotted him and signed him.
