Caldonia

Well, this has to be one of the strangest stories I've ever come across.

Actually, the original version of Caldonia, written and recorded by Lewis Jordan in 1945, was just a fun jump-blues tune that became a big hit for him, and has subsequently been covered more than 150 times.

But Clarence Gatemouth Brown, on his 1997 album Gate Swings, adds a spoken verse on his version, which has him tying Paul Caldonia to the back of his car and dragging her down the road.

Absolutely macabre.

Anyway, before that, the English soul revivalist James Hunter and his excellent little two-man horn section give us a tune called Jacqueline, taken off his 2008 release The Hard Way.
