C with Classes

know if you saw this interview from Bjarne in the 80s.

One of the things that he mentions is he started with C, he added classes to it, made C with classes, and he described it as a medium success.

And what he means by medium success is he's like, some of my friends are using it and they're kind of liking it, but it's not popular.

And the reason this is a problem is he's like, I don't want to keep maintaining this and working on it.

When it's just a couple people, I want to move on with my life, but at the same time, I don't want to leave my friends high and dry who are using this thing that I built that's not really all the way there.

So what do I do? And his idea for how to fix this problem was, what if I just add a bunch more features? Then maybe it'll have broader appeal, and then I can get some maintainers to help me out.

And the set of extra features was the stuff that moved it from C with classes to C++.

So it's like he literally did the experiment of if you take C and you add object orientation to it, does that take off? No.
