C'Thun

I played a bunch of Warlock because I like Warlock.

And I like C'Thun.

I like the old gods.

And it was fun.

Yeah.

I am always scared of that, but not in this particular adventure.

There was a game where a rogue cheated out C'Thun on turn seven and the C'Thun.

Let me guess.

But I still didn't think they'd be as good and standard as they have been.

And that is Ritual of C'thun, and we might as well skip to the second card, of course, and Ritual of Summoning.

So Ritual of C'thun is the one mana warlock spell.

Rituals are spells that you play, and in two turns of time, they do something.

Now, the Floor and Ceiling.

We're never going to see this card do anything.

So it's a card you can draw at some points in the game and it literally does nothing.

could be like okay i just need to draw something to stabilize this you know there's still 10 turns left in this game if i can stabilize you can just draw this and it's a blank it's a terrible thing to do but the ceiling on these cards is so incredibly high and so powerful that they're absolutely worth running and of course worth running out in the first couple of turns i believe i mentioned last episode i had a game where one of my opponents went ritual of catherine turn one ritual of summoning turn two and then a second copy of each on turn three which obviously is very good now the ritual of catherine does a catherine ability when it resolves The C'thun abilities are currently 7 damage divided amongst enemies, or 5 damage to a minion with Lifesteal, or summon a couple of 2-3s with Taunt, or give a couple of friendly minions plus 2 plus 3.

Individual Old Gods don't necessarily have what we call special powers.

There isn't really anything that indicates, oh, this is a thing that C'Thun can do that Y'shaarj can't, or this is a specialty of Yogg-Saron that N'Zoth doesn't have.

There's just different ways that they've managed to... take advantage of their surroundings over time.

So, like, technically, the flavor of every Old God Legendary card is something that, like, if you were to put them in, like, a power set of an Old God could do this, most of them could basically do kind of the same things, but there's thematic more to what they ended up doing over time.

And that's what they do.

There are a few notes about how the Old Gods were defeated here.

It says that when fighting C'Thun, the Keepers and their allies purged swarms of Faceless before assaulting the Old God and subduing it.

They entombed him beneath the earth and constructed a prison of their own devising.

And so since then, there have been various developments in the meta as things settle, as it were.

At the point I started locking in the deck that I was going to climb with, which was C'Thun Demon Hunter.

Really quite enjoyed playing that, by the way.

It wasn't the best deck.

I'd say the best deck was probably Zoo Warlock.

Like, people were playing Control Warlock stuff, like, you know, last episode I was talking about how, oh, let's just play, let's just play Warlock with C'Thun, but honest C'Thun as opposed to some kind of combo, because the combo's just been banned.

That is, nobody's playing it that way.

They're just playing Zoo Warlock now instead.

I prep saw bones on to turn three.

ended up drawing four cards nope drawing seven cards and playing a five four and a nine eight on turn three i did win that game they did get cleared but i did win that game um and i buffed my hand by like plus four plus four it was utterly insane and then have been finding a little bit of a group with the c'thun demon hunter um that deck is also very very good and very consistent and does not always need C'Thun to win.

I had a few very early games with that one as well.

Nice.

There are some interesting, strange ones here.

Amine, as I believe how it said, the druid legendary that you get copies of death rattles can get you copies of weapons with death rattles.

Apparently, um, glare of C'Thun, uh, one of the C'Thun abilities incorrectly benefits from spell damage, um, detained for destruction.

Uh, one of Godfather Kazakuses, um, options is blank and localized clients.

So, uh, I was very dead.

There was also like multiple C'Thun's.

It was, yeah.

Uh, I don't remember how there were multiple Cthuns.

Um, and I don't know whether other people were underrating him or not, but if they were, that deck is insane.

I was actually underrating the rest of the package around it.

Um, we don't need to run actual C'Thun.

We are running, um, just the, like just the rituals.
