Michael GelbartGUEST
12:29
I will happily, after this, send you private links to the episode, but here is what happened.
Michael GelbartGUEST
12:34
Byron Allen is an entrepreneurial genius, I suppose.
Michael GelbartGUEST
12:39
When I was a little kid, he was on a show called Real People.
Michael GelbartGUEST
12:42
Early 80s, I guess they were precursor to reality shows.
Michael GelbartGUEST
12:47
They'd show you real Americans that do something really unique, and Byron Allen was on the show.
Michael GelbartGUEST
12:52
And then years later, I ended up being a guest on a show that he owned called Comedy.TV, which I think you saw the appearance in a theater, one of those shows that's an hour long and they have like a celebrity host and then comedians come out and do five.
Michael GelbartGUEST
13:07
minutes or seven minutes of the stuff in the in the theater and i said we're doing a show called who wants to you broke up a little bit so byron actually someone from his company called and said we're doing a show we're going to start with six episodes to get the show sold we want you to be one of the we already have the stand-up footage from the night you did comedy.tv and the premise of the show it's one of those dating show women there's gonna be like four each other in contests in which you are the judge so you don't do anything ridiculous you won't be in a chicken suit or anything like that and we intercut it with the stand-up footage we already own it's basically a half-hour showcase of you but and you eliminate the women one by one based on their ability to compete in various things It sounded a little awkward for the women, but it sounded to me that it was just like my own half hour that I could act as host, basically.
Johnny MacHOST
7:23
Uh, because stay with me.
Johnny MacHOST
7:24
Assuming you take at face value that Colbert's show was really expensive, et cetera, et cetera, so what was the plan? Were they going to have Byron Allen at 11:30 and Taylor Tomlinson off on an island at 12:30? Or would they have moved Taylor Tomlinson to 11:30, which is probably a less expensive show to produce than Colbert's was, and Byron Allen at 12:30? So I think there might be a butterfly effect.
Johnny MacHOST
7:46
Again, I am not blaming Taylor Tomlinson, but I think her decision to walk away maybe, perhaps, possibly led to executives who came to terms with the idea of not having a 12:30 show, and then somebody going, "Huh, what if we didn't have an 11:30 show?" I've been in a lot of conference rooms with media executives, and I think maybe, perhaps, possibly that could have happened.
Johnny MacHOST
8:09
Not blaming Taylor Tomlinson.
MarcellusGUEST
33:21
Definitely won't.
Tezlyn FigaroHOST
33:23

Gary OwenHOST

Um, I was short on qualifying for SAG medical insurance, and I called Byron Allen and I asked him, "Hey, can I get on a couple episodes? I'm a little short." You know, you gotta make so much money a year on SAG.
Gary OwenHOST
31:55
And he's like, "Yeah, yeah, I got you," and he put me on.
Gary OwenHOST
31:57
So we filmed, I filmed six episodes, um, couple days ago.
Gary OwenHOST
32:02
The first six I filmed last month are airing now.
Gary OwenHOST
32:05
He's done taken over the late night spot on CBS.
Gary OwenHOST

Sam TallentGUEST
41:43
Undefeated.
Sam TallentGUEST
41:45
I want to do that show, just because it's old-timey show business to me.
