We're getting close to the end of Tony Vitello's first season as Giants manager.

What part of this first season do you think Buster is happiest with in regards to Vitello?

I think, boy, I don't want to speak for Buster, but I would say if I'm sitting back and I've made this hire and this is my guy, the thing that I would find most encouraging is that the teams continue to play hard.

Obviously, the games haven't had any playoff implications for a while now, but the young guys are coming up and they seem comfortable playing.

You don't see a lot of these guys look overwhelmed when they're in some of these situations.

You know, I've covered teams, you know, you could even argue that, you know, last year's team, they were at 500, but the clubhouse was a lot more of a dour place, you know, So, you know, a lot of that is just you got guys who are happy to be here, but they also are competing pretty well.

And of course, they're going to make mistakes.

But, you know, I think overall, I think if you're Buster Posey, you got to be kind of happy with the fact that, you know, that the team is hasn't really gotten down on themselves, even though they got plenty of reasons to be.

So I guess just big picture, Mike, like how important are those moments for these young guys in the minor leagues? Because you look at the San Jose Giants, you look at the Rivercats and the Flying Squirrels, they're all playing playoff baseball right now.

Well, now they enter the race to where they finish in terms of all-time worst Giants teams.

I think the next mark is the 2017 team managed by Bruce Bochy and Buster Posey and catcher.

Uh, that lost 98.

We kind of brush over that, don't we? Nice.

I would rather see a no-hitter or a complete game at the Major League level, but it was cool to see at the Minor League level, where guys don't have the longest leashes, and to see a young prospect like Argenis Camaja, who's a top 20 prospect in the Giants system, to go five shutout innings with seven strikeouts.
