And I ended up a few years later working for a guy called Nick Belfridge who wrote several books on Italian wine.

And at the time I was working with him, or I started working with him, he was writing Life Beyond Lambrusco, which was after Burton Anderson's book Vino was the first book to sort of open up Italy, the new Italy, to the world.

And so Nick was a great lover of Barolo and Barbaresco, and he introduced me to the delights of it.

And I decided to visit there in November 1983.
