You're from Burns Flat, a former Eagle, and you have made your way over to Woodward.

For those who don't know, give us a little history lesson of Coach Nehberger.

Yeah, well, I started out coaching at Weatherford.

I coached at Weatherford for two years, and then I took a job at Burns Flat, which is my hometown.

At the time when I took the job there, they were 0-40 over the last four years, and we were able to turn that thing around and had a good group come through there and had some really good teams during that seven-year span.

So I was there for seven years and then left and went up to Shattuck, went to Minko for a year, and now this is my second year at Woodward.

You know, Elk City,

Uh, yeah, I mean, his dad was from Atoka, Oklahoma, actually a, a little town that doesn't even exist anymore outside of Atoka.

Like Burns Flat or something like that?

Uh, like Soggy Bottom or something like that.

Soggy Bottom, that's right.

We, we were able to do that pretty much every couple of years.

Well, I did it all the time 'cause I was an instructor at Burns Flat.

So I was, I was always pretty much going through refresher training.

But, but the highway patrol has its own fleet of vehicles usually that it has at the driving course, and, and they're just kind of dedicated to that.

The first of five Delta Airline aircraft scheduled for painting this year has arrived at the Premium Aerospace Center in Burns Flat.

The Oklahoma Infinity One Spaceport at Burns Flat has been selected for a new series of commercial microgravity missions.

Astral Materials plans to use Dawn Aerospace's Aurora space plane to test technology for manufacturing advanced materials in microgravity.

The program could include up to 100 flights over the next two years.

The flights will allow researchers to quickly test, recover, and refine experiments designed for future manufacturing in orbit.

Commercial flight operations from Burns Flat are currently expected to begin in 2028.

Elk City Public Schools has completed construction on a new press box at Big Elk Stadium, which debuted last Friday with the start of the 2026 football season.

Superintendent Mike Sparks says nearly all of the work was completed by local businesses and craftsmen, including ready-built metal products and construction and several other Elk City contractors.

A 21-year-old Burns Flat resident was injured Tuesday afternoon in a single vehicle crash in Ouachita County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 3.50 in the afternoon near North 2110 Road and East 1120 Road.

That's about six miles northwest of Burns Flat.

OHP reported the vehicle was traveling westbound on East 1120 when it left the roadway to the right and traveled approximately 174 feet before striking a bridge post.

The vehicle then rotated and rolled backward down a creek embankment approximately 42 feet before coming to rest.
