Burke Museum

Well, that's a good transition to what made me smile, which is that this is apple season, harvest season, but it's also a lot of us think of this as spider season because it's when we see certain kinds of big spiders in our homes looking for mates.

But there's a spider expert at the Burke Museum who keeps a list of spider myths.

And he says, every year we think there are more spiders than before.

He says, people have been asking me for 40 years, why are there suddenly so many spiders this year? And it's just not true.

And I'll tell you, KUOW's Patricia Murphy interviewed that expert, Rod Crawford.

You might have a tough time getting to the bones, however.

is inside the Burke Museum, but I can't see him.

Nobody can.

The Army Corps of Engineers says Kennewick Man's skeleton is too fragile for anyone to touch.

So listeners, Greg is a professor in the Department of Biology, an adjunct professor in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences, curator of vertebrate paleontology at the Burke Museum, and director of the Digg Field School, all at the University of Washington.

He is also a research associate at the University of California Museum of Paleontology.

Greg received his bachelor's degree in human biology from Stanford University and his PhD in integrative biology from the University of California, Berkeley.
