En Sajonia-Anhalt, la extrema derecha ha obtenido más del doble de votos que en 2021.

¿Podría repetir una gesta similar en las próximas elecciones federales al Bundestag? Según ciertos analistas, la mayor preocupación de los votantes de Sajonia-Anhalt en estos comicios ha sido la economía.

[upbeat music] In Germany, there probably are five to six parties represented in the, in the Bundestag.

Germany has a multi-party system.

They are a federal parliamentary representative democratic republic.

The Bundestag, which he mentioned, is their federal parliament, and members of it are elected by the German people.

There are 736 seats in the Bundestag, indeed divided by six parties.

So there is, in principle, there's, there's something for everyone, right? You can, you can feel very close to a particular party, but it is not entirely, it is not entirely obvious to voters what kind of governing arrangement they are gonna get after all of the bargaining is, uh, done, uh, once the election has taken place.

[upbeat music] And that's not the case in the US.

Um, and, and that's gonna put, uh, pressure on the, the chancellor, Friedrich Merz.

Um, he was already on the defensive yesterday in the Bundestag.

They had their first session, uh, after the, the summer recess, and, and AfD leader Alice Weidel was, was, uh, really chomping at the bit to go after Merz and, and Merz really had, had no response.

Uh, and, and people are already speculating when the next election comes down in two weeks on the 20th in the also East German state of, uh, Mecklenburg-West Pomerania, which is up by the Baltic Sea there.

And of course, there are only 1.7 million voters in Sachsen-Anhalt, so it's not the big state, but it is a big shock.

And this morning, actually, in the German Bundestag and German Parliament, Chancellor Merz was firing back, so he's not giving up.

So he's firing back.

And he shows strong, and for him, resigning is not an option.

Nazism again, but what we have seen in terms of the profiles of some of these AFD characters who have just been elected to the Bundestag is some of them are Nazis, some of them are subject to prosecution for putting Nazism around.
