they do the half distance.

They start from Laya and finish in Bumtang.

But what I did was the full snowman trek.

I started from Paro and finished in Bumtang.

I am a very

supportive guy.

So I was quite used to it.

I knew the trails.

So you walk beneath a 7,570 meter mountain that nobody has ever stood on top of.

Eventually, mercifully, the trail starts heading down towards Bumthang and Doachau, a set of natural hot springs.

Now, tradition says Guru Rinpoche once bathed there.

Although after three weeks of mud, tents, and yak shit, I suspect you'll mostly care that the water is hot.

Now, if you're gonna do it yourself, remember that Bhutan requires treks to be arranged through an accredited guide or tour operator who sorts the camps, the food, the pack animals, and considerable logistics.

Of course, I would do the full 28 day Snowman 2, Paro, Jolamhari, Laya, Lunana, Gangar Puensum, the hot springs, and then Bumthang.

And when a road finally appears after nearly a month on foot, I suspect you'll be absolutely delighted to see the bloody thing.
