Bugatti EB110

I was six years on the job by then.

It was a great era, though, because things like Jaguar X2, 220s, Bugatti EB110s, McLaren, all this.

I'd just missed the F40.

But all this really cool stuff.

Now, this, if, if you squint, there's, I think there's a little bit of, uh, EB110 in this, in this.

Oh, you got...

I, I can take my glasses off and squint.

EB110 was-

Oh, cool

... uh, they were the dealersh- you know, the dealership for the EB110 and Lotus, and they just went bust as I joined.

Okay.

Which was, uh, '94, '95.

They'd just gone bust, so I ended up going into a workshop there as a semi-skilled apprentice-

And to confirm this, the same thing happened with the Bugatti EB110.

There was a car that was supposed to be a replacement for the Lamborghini Yalpa, which was the smaller than a V12 Lamborghini.

Right.

I apologize.

But the guy behind Bugatti, he hired the architect of the factory, who'd never designed a car before or since, to finish the EB110.

And that design, he took Gandini's design and modified it into what we know as the Bugatti EB110 for 95, 96.

So anyways...

By the way, Maurizio, we were, Hannah and I were talking last week just briefly about the Bugatti EB 110.

And, um, if I'm not mistaken, the same guys from, like, Miura and Countach, Stanzani, and, um, obviously Gandini, and then the-

Yeah

So they brought two Grand Prix cars, and then a Atlantic, Atlante.

Right? Is that what it is? And then a EB 110 and two Veyrons, one of which was this, I don't know, she was probably 50.

It was her, she bought it brand new when she was a kid, she said, and it's the first, uh, Veyron in the States.

And then the other one was the designer of the Veyron's car.

There's older stuff here, too.

There's a lot of older cars that we love seeing, but then I come across, well, there's [laughs] Veyrons and an EB 110, and I think, "I need to aim a little higher" in my-

... what, what could I imagine myself owning?

And we have seen this before.

Um, you know, I'm old enough to have been around, um, in the early 1990s, um, which people remember for cars like the McLaren F1 and the Jaguar XJ2- 220 and the Bugatti EB 110, all essentially failing to find the customers that were readily apparent when their cars were first announced, but had all gone because of economic circumstances.

And there were some transactions there where, you know, people lost...

I mean, it's just simply enormous amounts of money.
