Bubble Act

That's a profound quote.

The political and economic fallout was so devastating that Parliament passed the Bubble Act, which essentially prohibited the formation of new joint stock companies for over a century.

They regulated the market into a coma to protect people from themselves.

You'd think that after losing their collective shirts in the seventeen hundreds, humanity would build permanent psychological guardrails.
