I mean, the injury's a surprise, but his poor play was not a surprise as far as, like, at this point.

It was a surprise when I first saw it at the beginning of training camp, but this is what we saw the entire training camp.

So how did this guy... make the roster and force the Niners to cut loose on Bryson Eason.

I mean, to me, it's like if you were going to take Collins, you were going to have to commit to taking an extra defensive lineman.

And y- and wh- when they made their final cuts, they waived Bryson Eason, that defensive tackle who played so well in training camp and, uh, pre-season and then the Chiefs claimed him off waivers.

That was a obvious one.

I mean, his PFF grades were great.

But I think I am circling the defensive line because they obviously triple down on the draft picks plus Kyrus Tonga in terms of real investments.

The defensive tackle group, of Jones and Tonga with Peter Woods being able to take some of those snaps from Chris Jones potentially, and even Bryson Eason, the UDFA that he claimed from San Francisco, being a guy who could legitimately take a few snaps from Kyrus Tonga here and there and not have a huge stylistic change or a huge physical step down.

I think the depth, even with Omar Norman-Lott still on PUP, I think the defensive tackle room, the idea that we have a season where Chris Jones still plays like Chris Jones, but he doesn't have such a Herculean burden on him to constantly be the guy generating pressure, demanding all of the attention of the opposing defense.

And then that can similarly extend to George Karloftis, who you see be this absolute like Iron Man on this defensive line.
