Ryan, what did you think about Bryce Elder's season this year?

I'm pulling up his stats real quick for you, Chad.

So I just want to say if we were going into 2026 and you're like, okay, what would be a good year for Bryce Elder? Would you take a four and a half ERA? If Bryce Elder goes out there and gives you 160 innings, four and a half ERA as your number five starter, do you take that yes or no? Everybody that I remember said yes, yes, yes, yes.

Well, guess what Bryce did? He threw 149 innings, so almost 160, and he had a 4.11 ERA this year.

4.11. There's a lot of teams out there that's going to play for the number five starter.

He was that good this year for us.

He really didn't start getting hit hard until he got hurt.

They really exhaled when they got through it because of that pitching and all of that.

And if we dig in on the Arise trade, you know, I've talked to Bryce Harper about it, and he says, you know, Like, I think one of the reasons why Bryce has taken his walks at a higher rate lately is that he just feels like, hey, I can pass the baton to this guy.

He's going to put the bat on the ball.

He's a different hitter than pretty much anybody.

They lose Hurston Waldrop.

Robert Suarez, a big part of the bullpen, has been out for a while.

Ronaldo Lopez just came back after missing a month and he got hit around a little bit Wednesday night.

That's how you win.

Braves manager Walt Weiss has reported that right-hand starter Bryce Elder has had knee surgery yesterday and he'll need about three to four weeks of recovery time.

Specifically, the procedure removed bone fragments from his right knee and he's not yet been placed on the IL, but that should happen pretty soon.

He allowed, I think, 4.11 earned runs per nine innings over his 26 starts this season.

And that's not... throwing any shade at any pitcher in the majors because, well, as I found out recently from one of the people that I suggested on my fantasy things last week, you can have six scoreless innings, fire out 14 or 15 batters, and then they bring you up to the seventh and it all goes pear-shaped.

So thank you very much, athletics.

But anyway, yeah, shame for Bryce Elder.
