They still got some eligibility questions on that roster that could have a serious impact on how good they're going to be.

But while I'm inspired by what some of these other teams are doing, Providence is a team that I think improved dramatically with the new coach, Brian Hodgson, coming in.

I think Villanova is very clearly in the right direction.

I think Marquette, I mean, they have nowhere to go but up.

And I think that last year is kind of just the messiness that was that last season is wiped away.

And I think this program is going to be a better spot.

Then Providence hires Brian Hodgson, who was wildly successful, and he's built an incredible roster.

We'll see how all the pieces fit together.

Yeah, a lot of news to get to today.

I feel like there's been a ton of news this offseason between transfers and recruiting and the team right now and the new coach and Brian Hodgson.

But before we get into all of that, we just wanted to talk quick about former Friar Jimmy Nichols, who is currently in critical condition in Uruguay, where he plays professionally.

He's undergone multiple emergency operations right now.

But the other guys, I mean, King, Gibson, and we'll talk about these other guys, but I definitely think that it's contagious.

Having a guy on campus like that is contagious.

And Brian Hodgson is obviously putting an emphasis on five stars.

That's a good thing.

Like you said, the first time they see Providence, that'll be a big one.

So Brian Hodgson has done some good work rebuilding the roster, brand new coach there.

That first meeting is January 20th at Providence.

That'll be a big one.

Nate Lehman was up there.

Brian Hodgson was firing the crowd up.

We had some food.

It was an open bar.

I can almost promise we will lose.

So here's my question for you guys, though, about that really hard slate to start the Big E schedule.

We believe in the Brian Hodgson coaching staff.

We believe in Hodgson.

You know, you can have a, a college basketball coach coach at, uh, let's say South Florida for two years, leave for Providence.

Um, say Brian Hodgson goes crazy at Prov-- I'm not, this is just an example.

But, uh, like I don't think this is gonna happen.

But say he takes Providence to the Final Four this year and gets a job at, uh, Blue Blood or something.

yeah yeah yeah so how is your off season gone i want to ask you what is the so you got the job right went from south florida sunny south florida to sunny tennessee because it's always sunny in tennessee it's beautiful there um what is the first thing you did as the new head coach of the golden eagles Well,

you know, when I got the job, we were still getting ready for the NCAA tournament in South Florida, so it was a hectic time, right? You're trying to finish up the season there, doing the best I can, help Brian, help us, help that team make a run.

So, you know, you get your staff together, and then it's all recruiting.

You know, and that's one thing, whereas my third Division I job in the last four years, or five years, I think, or four years, so...

You're trying to go get guys.

So it's much different now, the landscape.

But also as a coach, I think now, and I learned this a lot from Brian Hodgson, is it's a one-year deal, man.

We're getting ready for one big year and do what we can do.

It was Providence night.

I thought they were going to win.
