Bruce Miller

You probably know this, but it's been renewed for season two that happened in May, I guess, of this year.

What did she play?

Jessica in True Blood and Karen Page in Daredevil.

they had the writer's strike.

Yeah.

I know Bruce Miller wants to keep it quick, especially since it's all these young actors who will age and everything.

But anyway, I hope, yeah, if it came out in September, I'd be happy about that.

Wow.

Um, um, Jenji Kohan was writing with Bruce Miller, who later went on to write The Handmaid's Tale.

And I went in and auditioned, and it was about the Salem witch trials, and I...

God bless Jen Euston who, like, [laughs] saw past my terrible accent.

So I had done, uh, the HBO pilot.

Okay.

With Bruce Miller and Jenji, right? And also, our executive producer is Warren Littlefield, who was the president of NBC w- when I was offered my development deal.

Wow.

The level of synchronization between the television writers and the original author is almost unprecedented.

Bruce Miller, the show creator, gave an interview to TV Guide that completely exposes how carefully they navigated this.

The quote he provided is a masterclass in adaptation ethics.

Miller said, "We tried not to make big decisions in the final season of The Handmaid's Tale that we would have to deal with in The Testaments in a way that might restrict the storytelling."

Right.

The later seasons of Thrones are infamous for that.

But here, Bruce Miller and his team had one of the biggest shows on the planet, and they actively handcuffed their own storytelling in the final seasons specifically so they wouldn't contradict a book that Atwood was still writing.

It demonstrates a profound humility.

lot of fun good episode good premiere Okay, let's get into the second episode today.

It is A New World, written by Bruce Miller, directed by Michael Robison.

This originally aired on July 16th of 2010.

Jack returns home to the bunker and is greeted by Tess, who is actually there and not a hologram.

Carrying the Weight.

Ethan Hawke leads a group through tough terrain in his film by Bruce Miller.

Ethan Hawke never complained about filming in cold water, dodging logs, or climbing around rough terrain in The Wait.

I love being in different kinds of films.
