I don't like Bruce Chatwin as a travel writer.

I would rather, for all his flaws, read Hemingway than I would Bruce Chatwin.

And I think to maybe tie our conversation-

Now, I have to admit, there was also kind of a... a literary motive in there because I realized already that I really loved travel writing, travel books.

And in particular, I was very taken with the English writer Bruce Chatwin, with whom I happened to share a birthday, not the same year.

He was born 15 years earlier, but we were both born on May 13th.

And his book in Patagonia, his first book, a wonderful study of traveling in southern Argentina, very quirky and you know, you might say wayward, but beautifully written.
